Less than four months after registration opened, the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon has sold out, making it one of the fastest marathon sell-outs in runDisney history.
More than 26,000 registered runners are set to participate in the Disney Marathon Weekend on January 8-12, 2014, with 13,500 signed up to run the 26.2 miles that make up the marathon.
There are a limited number of registrations available for the half marathon and full marathon through charity and tour groups. For more information on those options, runners can visit http://www.rundisney.com.
The Dopey Challenge, the half marathon, the 10K, and the 5K are also sold out. Runners can still register for the Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge where they will participate in the half marathon and the full marathon.
The 2014 Disney Marathon Weekend is the first time that the event will span five days. The Disney Family Fun Run 5K takes place on Thursday of the Marathon Weekend, followed on Friday by the new Walt Disney World 10K at Epcot. Runners who finish the 10K receive a Minnie Mouse medal. The half marathon will be run on Saturday and the full marathon takes place on Sunday, January 12.
Runners who are participating in Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge - running both the half and full marathons - will receive a special Goofy-themed medal. Runners who participate in those two races plus the 5K and 10K will earn four medals - one for each race - plus the Goofy medal and the new Dopey Challenge medal.
As of press time, Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge was at 96 percent capacity.
