This summer is going to be the 'Coolest Summer Ever' at the Walt Disney World Resort, and to kick off the season there's a 24-hour party at the Magic Kingdom on May 22-23. The party will include the regular Magic Kingdom attractions plus extra entertainment, dance parties, special merchandise, and guests in costume showing off their Disney Side.
The party starts at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 22 and goes a full 24 hours until 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff are set to welcome park guests right after the opening show and ceremony.
The first Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. with a second show at 5:40 p.m. In Tomorrowland, you can join The Incredibles at the Incredibles Super Heroes Dance Party starting at 9:30 a.m.
The Festival of Fantasy Parade will happen at noon and 3 p.m. during the party, while the Main Street Electrical Parade happens at 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The Celebrate the Magic projection show and Wishes fireworks will also happen during the party.
Throughout the day the regular attractions at the Magic Kingdom will remain open and in the wee hours of the night guests will have a chance to ride select attractions including Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
As the party continues into the night a DJ will be spinning tunes at the Disney Channel-hosted Club Chill party zones in Tomorrowland from 4-11 p.m. Guests might even catch a glimpse of some of their favorite Disney Channel and Disney XD stars during the dance party. Other dance parties hosted by characters in their pajamas are planned in Frontierland and at the Castle Hub.
There's probably no easy way to prepare for a 24-hour party, but if you're lucky enough to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel it might be a wise idea to take a short nap at some point during the day if you're planning on making it through all 24 hours. If you aren't staying on site, you can always catch some shut eye on Carousel of Progress or another dark ride.
The party will feature enough 'Frozen' treats to keep you on a sugar high all day, but it's also a good idea to sneak in some "healthier" food at mealtime. You could always start the day with a (very large) coffee from the Main Street Bakery Starbucks and continue to caffeinate throughout the day. But don't forget the water! You'll want to stay hydrated as it'll likely be a hot summer day on May 22.
And for those of us who won't be at the 24-Hour Party at the Magic Kingdom, there will be a live Magic Cam so we can check out the parades, shows, and fireworks throughout the event.
If you're lucky enough to be at the party make sure you add the hashtag #Disney24 to any photos or videos you're sharing via social media.
