As we make our way around the Magic King in our "5 Reasons" series, the next stop is Fantasyland. This land is known for it's kid friendly rides and nods to the golden age of Disney animation. While I've heard some adults say that they don't spend much time in this fairy tale land, if you haven't been there lately it's time for another look. With a multi-million dollar expansion now complete, there's more to see, more to do, and more to eat in Disney's storybook setting. Read on to find out 5 Reasons Why Fantasyland Is Really Fantastic!
Cinderella Castle
Centerpiece of the entire Magic Kingdom, Cinderella Castle is the gateway to fantasy. A transition point in the Park where guests cross between the real world and the fairy tales of times gone by. Hidden inside this Disney icon, guests will find a stunning bejeweled mosaic by Hanns-Joachim Scharff, the popular Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and a restaurant that has become a popular "right of passage" for Disney mega fans - Cinderella's Royal Table.
Peter Pan's Flight
It wasn't hard for me to chose just one classic attraction to represent Fantasyland, it has to be Peter Pan's Flight. Since opening day in 1971 this dark ride has captured the imagination of millions by taking guests on a nighttime flight through Never Land. This is an attraction that pulls on your heart strings with kitschy glowing scenes from Disney's Peter Pan and a soundtrack that will stick in your brain, not to mention - flying over London in a pirate ship - that's just priceless.
The Fantasyland Expansion
For those of you who haven't been to Walt Disney World for several years, Fantasyland is a whole new world. Over the past three years this magical place has rolled out a broad variety of attractions for kids of all ages. In addition to the tried and true Fantasyland attractions, the Fantasyland expansion included the addition of Storybook Circus, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston's Tavern, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid, Princess Fairytale Hall, and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
The Rapunzel Rest Area
I know - you don't usually think of the bathroom as making a best of list, however the Rapunzel Rest Area, between Fantasyland and Liberty Square, is one of the best pit stops in the Kingdom. Aside from it's general beauty and fun theme, we love the "D-zone," a unique feature that offers a series of small tables and benches positioned right next to six charging stations that offer both electrical outlets to plug in to. It's a great place to sit down and take a breather.
Meet -and- Greets
While there are several places across the Walt Disney World that guests can meet Disney Characters, Fantasyland may just have the highest concentration of characters per land in all of Disney. Fans are able to admire Gaston on the street near his Tavern, journey under the sea to Ariel's Grotto, participate in Enchanted Tales with Belle, share a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table, or catch up with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, Donald and Goofy in Pete's Silly Sideshow. That's a lot of spots to meet some of the most popular of Disney Characters, and it's not even all of them. If you're looking for Characters, Fantasyland has them in abundance.
