7 Great Ways To Celebrate Earth Day at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney Company prides itself on being a leader in corporate social responsibility, and we as guests often see the changes being made to help reduce Disney Parks & Resorts impact on the planet. In 2019 Walt Disney World celebrated Earth Day with a brand new 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility that generates enough energy to operate two of the Disney Parks. If you're wondering how you can do your part to protect our Earth, I've got 7 Great Ways To Celebrate Earth Day at Walt Disney World.

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is an annual spring event at Walt Disney World with a wide variety of educational displays that let you know how to get closer to the planet. Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration is a family scavenger hunt activity that leads guests to discover locations along the garden pollination trail. Being aware of and supporting pollinators in your community is an important way to help the planet.

Book A Dolphin Encounter at Epcot's The Seas with Nemo & Friends! Dolphins In Depth is a 3 hour experience where you can get up close with bottlenose dolphins and learn more about their world and the impact global issues have on oceanic life. Discover what Disney is doing to help our oceans and the animals that live in them.

Eat a Plant Based Meal at your favorite Disney restaurant. Commercial animal husbandry uses a vast amount of Earth's natural resources. A recent report shows that the greatest reductions in greenhouse-gas emissions could actually come by more people simply switching to vegan and vegetarian diets.

Rent A Bicycle instead of speed boat to spend an afternoon in the open air. Cycling requires no gasoline and, therefore, no harmful emissions are released into the air.

Use Disney Transportation instead of driving yourself. Aside from there being one less vehicle on the road, Disney's bus fleet was one of the first in the country to use a cleaner renewable diesel called R50. The coolest part is that R50 is made from used cooking oil and non-consumable food waste.

Obviously this is a small list with minimal impact, but knowledge is power, and if everyone took small steps to care for our planet they would add up to big gains. So celebrate Earth Day, and be there to care for the ground beneath your feet.
