While the northern half of the country is stuck in a deep freeze it's springtime and baseball season at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Atlanta Braves have kicked off their 2015 spring training workouts at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The first group of players started training on February 21 and the first full-squad workout is February 26. The Braves' home opener against the New York Mets will be played at Champions Stadium on March 4.
The Braves are set to play an 18-game home schedule against times including the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the Detroit Tigers, and the Washington Nationals.
On March 21 the Braves and Walt Disney World will honor veterans at the game against the Nationals for Military Appreciation Day.
Most of the games at Champion Stadium start at 1:05 p.m., but there are four night games scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m. Fans attending the game will have a chance to enjoy Disney entertainment, specialty food and beverages, and kids can run the bases after every game.
This year marks the 18th year of Braves spring training at Walt Disney World.
