Vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort is not cheap. We all know that prices go up every year on tickets, rooms, food, souvenirs...you name it! And so with all the money we spend on every Disney World vacation it's nice to find stuff that's FREE. Yes, we said free. There are many free things at Disney World and today we're going to talk about some of our favorites.
All around the Walt Disney World Resort you'll find free stuff including souvenirs, food, beverages, and even tours!
First on our list are the free celebration pins. You can pick these up at your hotel's front desk or from kiosks at the theme parks. If you're celebrating your birthday, anniversary, wedding, first visit, or the fact that you can eat Dole Whip every day for a week you'll find a button for that. (OK, the Dole Whip button would have to be created by you using the "I'm Celebrating" pin but it could totally be done).
What's fun about these free buttons is that if you're wearing a birthday button just about every cast member you see will wish you a happy birthday. And you might also get a free birthday dessert at some restaurants. Earlier this year I even got a free chocolate cake from cast members standing in front of the Haunted Mansion " just because I had a birthday button on.
A fun freebie at the Magic Kingdom is the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards. You can pick up a pack of card each day at the Firehouse on Main Street U.S.A, and you can choose to play the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game throughout the park, or you can just take the cards home as a free collectible souvenir.
During the holiday season there's usually a special holiday-themed card that is only available to guests attending the holiday parties.
If you're visiting Epcot you'll find a few freebies at the park. First, you'll want to stop at Club Cool in Future World to sample Coca Cola products from around the world. If you've done this before you probably have a love/hate relationship with Beverly. Tip: it's fun to tell newbies in your group to try Beverly and then film their reaction. ;-D
In Epcot's World Showcase be sure to stop at all the Kidcot Stops. The stops are located in every country throughout World Showcase and the kids can pick out a cardboard Duffy the Disney Bear. Cast members will stamp the cardboard bear in each pavilion. And in Morocco, Japan, and China they'll even write your name in their native alphabet. These cardboard figures make great free souvenirs and even better fans on those really hot summer days.
As you're touring the World Showcase pavilions be sure to stop in The Puffin's Roost in Norway to get a free spritz of the Laila perfume too! You might be lucky enough to see the perfume's designer Geir Ness and get a photo!
And don't forget about the free concerts at Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival, Food and Wine Festival, and the Epcot Festival of the Arts. All of the concerts are performed in the America Gardens Theater in the American Adventure Pavilion and they're FREE!
The Walt Disney World Resort hotels are also great spots to find free stuff! Every night guests can watch a free movie (either at the pool or at the beach, depending on the resort). At the Art of Animation you'll find free art classes.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to several great freebies. First, you can visit the hotel to see the animals on the savanna (we recommend going at night so you can see them after dark with night vision goggles). And, you can also take a free culinary tour at Boma and Jiko or a cultural tour of Sanaa.
Other fun and free things on our list include getting character autographs, visiting Ghirardelli at Disney Springs for a free chocolate sample, checking out all the ice cream flavors at Ample Hills Creamery on Disney's BoardWalk, and hopping on a boat or a Monorail for a ride.
What are your favorite free things at Disney World? Let us know in the comments.

Chip 'n Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long at Disney's Fort Wilderness, with movies under the stars. They're doing similar things at other resorts now, but a journey into the Wilderness is still be best fun. S'mores kits for sale, or bring your own.
