While there's no concrete news about how Disney is going to grow the Star Wars presence in its theme parks around the world, there is a lot of speculation. Disney CEO Bob Iger fueled that speculation last week during a call with Wall Street analysts when he said there is a "fair amount of design and development taking place" to increase Star Wars presence in "multiple locations."
What this means exactly for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and the international theme parks is anyone's guess. But Iger did also say "the plans are ambitious, so it's going to take some time for them to be built and opened."
Specific plans are expected to be announced later this year, perhaps at the Star Wars Celebration that takes place April 16-19 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Or maybe on May 4, which is 'Star Wars Day.' Or perhaps the big announcement will come at the D23 Expo on August 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Disney has room at several theme parks to expand, including Shanghai Disneyland which is opening in 2016. And there are rumors swirling about that Echo Lake area at Disney's Hollywood Studios will soon close, leading some to imagine that Star Wars Land might be a reality at that theme park.
Disney is no stranger to banking on film successes at the theme parks. The Avatar-themed land at Disney's Animal Kingdom is scheduled to open in 2017, and the mega-hit Frozen is getting its very own attraction and meet-and-greet area in Epcot's Norway pavilion.
Do you think a Star Wars-themed land is coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios? Let us know in the comments.

I can't wait until the announcement - I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for this.

Studios is close to not worth going to already and now they are planning to announce what they are planning. It's not that indiana jones, back lot and lights motors were that great but they tied up thousands of people that are now standing in line at just 5 attractions. I don't want to ride toy story that bad. My wife and I went every other year for a long time. between the increased cost of a Disney trip and the shut downs and construction and fasspass plus we may just wait until 2018. At least we can go to avatarland and think about what beastly kingdom may have been like.
