Sure the calendar still says August and you might be thinking more about back-to-school shopping than the holiday season, but it's as good a time as any to start thinking about spending the holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort.
If you are making holiday plans, you might want to check out the 25-minute horse-drawn sleigh ride at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
Who says you need snow for a sleigh ride? Not Disney! The sleighs at Fort Wilderness have been retrofitted with wheels, making it easy for the horses to take guests on a holiday adventure.
While Fort Wilderness does offer horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the year, the holiday sleigh rides will replace the carriage rides throughout December. The sleighs fit four adults or two adults and two kids. Larger groups can book more than one sleigh.
Guests who book the holiday sleigh rides will also receive a special limited-edition pin that was created for the sleigh rides. After you've finished the holiday sleigh ride make sure you stop by the barn and meet some of the horses.
The holiday sleigh rides run from 5-10 p.m. each night in December. The sleigh rides depart from the main entrance of Crockett's Tavern at Disney's Fort Wilderness. Reservations are recommended and can be booked by calling 407-939-7529. The price is $79 per sleigh.
Have you ever taken a holiday sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness? Leave us a comment and let us know.

I have not taken the sleigh ride, but did take the wagon ride with about 20 other people during December. We all sang Christmas songs and got to see all the RV's and campsites decked out with lights. It was great! Oh, and the horses had sleigh bells - what a sound the bells and the horse's clanking along.
