Celebrate International Year of the Forests at Animal Kingdom

2011 is the International Year of Forests, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly, and Disney's Animal Kingdom will help celebrate this in a special festival Wednesday, July 27.

The International Year of Forests brings to light ways to manage, conserve and develop forests. The celebration at the AK later this month will extend on this theme, giving guests a chance to "discover the wonders of forests and learn more about the variety of wildlife that depend on them."

The festival will feature ways for guests of all ages to learn more about the forest. Animal care staff will be on hand for guests to meet and question, and conservation projects will be featured. In addition, guests can see a variety of forest insects, reptiles and amphibians.

The celebration is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rafiki's Planet Watch.
