Celebs Sign Petition to Stop Barneys' Disney-Themed Christmas Window Displays

Celebrities have added their names to the petition to stop Barneys from moving forward with a Disney-inspired Christmas window display at their New York location.

A version of the intended display was recently released and shows favorite Disney characters (think Minnie, Daisy and Goofy) re-imagined as super-tall, super-thin models. The petitioners complaint stems from the message the display could send to young girls.

An excerpt of the petition reads:

There is nothing wrong with tall thin women. There is something wrong with changing a beloved children's character's body so that it looks good in a dress that almost nobody looks good in. Girls have enough pressure to be thin, now the beloved Disney mouse of their childhood has to add to the message that the only good body is a tall, size 0 body? Enough already. Let's give girls a chance to celebrate the actual bodies they have instead (of) hating them for not fitting into a (designer) Lanvin dress.

Thus far, actress Virginia Madsen (of the film "Sideways"), actress Bauer van Stratten and Disney family heiress Abigal Disney have added their names to the petition.

Minnie is a mouse. Not a model. Let's keep it that way.

Changing the Disney characters looks is wrong in SO MANY ways!!! They are LOVED for who they are, just how they look. It also sends the WRONG message to our youth as to what is "loved". WHY would ANYONE want to touch and/or change any of the Disney characters appearances??? It's almost, sacreligace!!!

I signed it too! I don't want my Disney-loving daughter to believe she needs to be a size 0 to look as beautiful as the Disney characters I still know and love - just the way they are!

Don't try to make the characters fancy. They are perfect the way they are.
