I'm not afraid to admit it; I always wanted to be a Jedi. I am a big Star Wars geek and any chance I get to imagine what it would be like to walk the halls of the Millennium Falcon or travel to the ruins of the Jedi Temple, I take it. With luck, today's little tidbit from Star Wars Weekends only brings me closer to my dream.
Disney's "D-Tech Me" will return to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the annual Star Wars themed events during the month of May and June, allowing you to become the hero or villain you always wanted to be. The great news is that they have added two new designs to the already exciting group of options. Guests in past years have been immortalized as X-wing Pilots, Stormtroopers, an Alderaan Princesses, or been trapped in carbonite, but this year will include ...wait for it... a TIE fighter pilot and a Jedi! Okay so I did giggle a little like a school kid when I said. Yes you can now look like a Jedi.
According to Disney Parks Blog "D-Tech Me is a 10-minute experience that uses the world's highest-resolution, single-shot 3D face scanner created by Imagineering scientists with Disney Research labs." That image is then used to create these incredibly well done 3D printed statues. They come in two sizes: 7 inches and 16 inches. A 7 inch version of yours truly would cost $119.95 + tax while a much more handsome and taller version at 16 inches would cost $999.95 + tax. How could I not want to be immortalized forever as a Jedi statue?
Ready to sign up? This year, the experience will be located inside Darth's Mall, just across from the Studio Catering Company.
Do any of you, our readers; have a statue made from D Tech Me? We would love to know. Heck we would love to see a picture of yourself in statue form. If you're going to Star Wars Weekend, are you planning to have one made?
