Epcot is going to turn the big three-oh this year, and D23 is gearing up to celebrate the milestone this fall. The official Disney fan club will host a variety of activities revolving around Epcot's 30th anniversary September 30, 2012.
The D23 Anniversary Celebration will showcase the creation of Epcot and "will offer the most detailed look at the design, development, and evolution of Epcot ever presented by The Walt Disney Company." The fan club is planning different presentations for its members, including: Hooray for the 21st Century, the music of EPCOT, and the EPCOT that never was among many others.
Says the head of D23, Steven Clark:
When Epcot opened in 1982 it was a monumental achievement and its opening was an unforgettable moment for Disney fans everywhere. We know our members have a deep passion for this park, and we're producing a memorable experience that lets our members relive some of their favorite Epcot shows and attractions of the past while experiencing the incredible Epcot legacy that continues today.
The event is open to members of D23 and requires a ticket in addition to an Epcot admission ticket. There are two levels of tickets available for D23 member purchase, a $65 World Passport general admission and a $185 World Key admission. Tickets go on sale June 21 at 10 a.m. on the D23 website. Each D23 member can bring up to three guests to the event.
