Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie are taking a magic carpet ride all the way to Broadway.
A musical adaptation of Disney's 1992 animated hit Aladdin is set to debut on the Great White Way in February of next year.
The Broadway production features music by Tony Award winner Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice and the late Howard Ashman. Menken, Rice, and Ashman were also responsible for the music and score in the film version.
Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw will serve as the director and choreographer for the musical. Chad Beguelin wrote the book for the show.
Aladdin joins other Disney films that were adapted for the stage, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Tarzan, and The Little Mermaid. The Lion King won six Tony awards and is still running on Broadway, while Tarzan and The Little Mermaid had shorter runs.
Casting for the Broadway version of Aladdin has not been announced. Opening night is scheduled for March 20, 2014.

I absolutely love the Aladdin show that they do at Disney's California Adventure, so I'm sure that this one is going to be awesome! I wish I lived closer so I could go see it.
