Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge were recently granted re-accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Only those zoos and aquariums that meet the highest standards of animal care and management will be accredited.
The AZA inspection team visited both the theme park and the hotel last year to assess things including the enrichment the animals receive, the veterinary programs, the conservation and educational programs, and the safety policies and procedures. Everything from animal care to food, beverage, and merchandise is assessed.
Once the locations were assessed the AZA Accreditation Commission deliberates and then makes its decision. The accreditation means Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom can continue its conservation work.
The AZA's comments said the hotel and theme park "sets the gold standard" for all zoos and aquariums and also praised Disney's work of making conservation a key value for the company.

What a wonderful thing to be said about Animal Kingdom, I know that they work very hard at being on the cutting edge and it's good to know that it pays off.
