Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Debuts Redesigned Lobby

The renovation of the lobby at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is complete and the new space gives the resort a fresh, new, and modern vibe while staying true to the original vision of the hotel. The waterfall feature (and its very distinct smell) might be gone but what is in its place is rather stunning.

The new lobby is open and spacious and features a lot of new seating areas for guests with new couches and chairs. And unlike the original lobby, you can actually see all the way to the back of the lobby now that the waterfall has been removed.

This new lobby has a lot more beautiful natural light than the original, and it gives guests a sense of being in a tropical paradise.

Speaking of lighting make sure to look up when you're in the lobby. The new light fixture hanging above the lobby is pretty incredible. The glass globes look like oversize glass fishing floats, while the other fixtures look like lanterns.

As lovely as the lights are when you look up from the first floor, we suggest heading up to the second floor and getting a closer look at the lights. They really are a perfect centerpiece for this redesigned lobby.

And of course you can't forget about the Hidden Mickeys when you're at Walt Disney World. Make sure you look down while you're walking through the lobby.

This is just the start of new things at Disney's Polynesian Village! What do you think of the redesigned lobby? Do you miss the waterfall or are you happy to see it go?

I can't wait to see this in person! It's so lovely and the colors are beautiful. I will miss the large water feature but this is tropical and classy, plus I lurve the tall cane chairs outside of the lounge.

More pictures (including the ones of those fabulous chairs) are up over on the Disney Food Blog!

I miss the waterfall and feel this design is a let down. The original was unique and this looks like every other hotel now. Very disappointed!

I was just there, and can't really comment on the overall look of the hotel since it is still a work in progress with the front area all torn up, and the pool area completely leveled. But, the lack of any kind of water feature at all in the lobby area is a big disappointment. I agree with Mindi that it now looks like every other hotel. Hoping that when everything is finished up it has more flare.
