Disney and The American Red Cross Renew Commitment to The Pillowcase Project for National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month and Disney and The American Red Cross have recently renewed their commitment to the Pillowcase Project. This initiative supports in-school and after-school curriculum for children in third through fifth grade to learn how to prepare and cope with emergencies.

As part of the initiative Disney Channel and Disney Junior will be airing an emergency preparedness interstitial featuring Doc McStuffins. The television spot will air through the month of September.

In the spot Doc and her friends will show viewers the basics of emergency preparedness (Learn, Practice, Share, Be Prepared) in order to help preschoolers and their families learn how to be prepared for an emergency.

The Pillowcase Project teaches students how to create emergency kits and how to develop a family emergency communication plan.

Since 2012 Disney has contributed a total of $3 million to the creation and expansion of the Pillowcase Project.

What are your thoughts about this partnership with Disney and the Red Cross? Let us know in the comments.

I'm always so happy when I hear about how much Disney gives back, and working with the red cross for preparedness month is perfect!

Hi Traci, this project is very commendable. Children should be taught early how to react to emergencies, we can't be with them at all times to guide them.
