Disney Provides Update on Avatar Project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

As construction continues on the Avatar-themed land at Disney's Animal Kingdom, The Walt Disney Company recently provided an update on the project, complete with a brief video featuring James Cameron and project team members getting a glimpse into the world of Pandora.

In a release from Disney Cameron said, "I think one of the things that people loved about the movie is that they felt as if they had visited Pandora... now, thanks to Disney's amazing Imagineers, people are going to truly experience Pandora firsthand. From the details in the plants to the production and design, extraordinary thought and care has gone into this entire world. The teams have really created something special, and it's not going to be like anything else."

Disney officially broke ground for the Avatar-inspired land in November 2014 and as of yet there is no official opening date. Disney has said it could take up to five years to complete the area.

The delayed movie release schedule is Avatar 2 (2017), Avatar 3 (2018), Avatar 4 (2019), and the latest news is the 3 scripts are still being written. Shooting will happen back to back. The last one will be a prequel. They are said to be MORE emotional. Sigourney will be in all three. yay!
