Disney World, GoWalla and you

Back in November, Disney Parks announced a new partnership with location-based service GoWalla. For Disney fans who are techies and social media mavens, this was a match made in heaven.

What is GoWalla? Well, it's a fun way to use your smartphone to check in to attractions at Disney Parks -- or anywhere you go! By checking into locations, you can earn fun pins and stamps for your digital passport, and complete trip itineraries that Disney thought up. You may find digital surprises at certain check-ins too, such as a Mickey ears!

GoWalla is currently available as an application for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Palm. Visit gowalla.com/disneyparks/waltdisneyworld to see real-time check-ins at Disney World. You can also see recent photos, featured trips, and popular places for check-ins.

Mashable.com calls the Gowalla-Disney partnership a major win for GoWalla, mentioning that competitors Facebook Places and Foursquare aren't as suited for this type of partnership, with literally hundreds of badges and pins one can earn.

Did the Disney-GoWalla partnership prompt you to join the service, or become active on a recent trip? Or do you find all this location-based stuff to be a little over your head? Leave a comment below!

The Disney-Gowalla partnership did prompt me (and my mom) to join the service. We made a scavenger hunt type game to see who could check into the most different places while @Disneyland last week. It gave us another thing to make return trips magical! And it was fun to compare what "surprises" we uncovered and of course compete for who got the most :)

Niki -- What a cool mother-daughter bonding experience! I'm still begging my parents to get smartphones! What was the coolest surprise that you picked up? And most importantly, WHO WON? haha!
