Disney's Art of Animation Resort Opening First Phase in May

It's good news for Disney Resort enthusiasts! Earlier this week, Disney Imagineers made the announcement that the newest resort, Disney's Art of Animation, is expected to open in phases beginning May 31, 2012.

The resort, which will provide over 1100 family suites and over 860 guest rooms, will reflect memories of some of Disney's classic animated films. Wings are themed after "The Lion King," "Cars," "Finding Nemo" and "The Little Mermaid." First up to open is the "Finding Nemo" space in May followed by "Cars" in July and "The Lion King" in September. Late 2012 is the projected date for the final wing, themed after "The Little Mermaid."

Disney's Art of Animation is also set to boast the largest pool ever found in a Disney Resort outside of the water parks. The pool, to be located in the "Finding Nemo" area, is said to measure some 11,859 square feet. Two other pools and a children's water play area are also planned.

The resort, situated near Disney's Pop Century, will fall into the "value" category of pricing.
