Grab 'em while they're hot. Make that cool. Whatever way you slice it, foodies will love the new shirts in Disney parks featuring the iconic Disney treat Dole Whip.
Richard Terpstra is the artist on the softlines team responsible for bringing a favorite Disney snack to a shirt near you. In addition to the Dole Whip shirt, Terpstra has also created a tee featuring the beloved Disney churros.
Both feature a retro style. Casey Jones, a Disney Design Group artist, had this to say about the new styles and fellow artist Terpstra's work:
"Richard has a great eye for retro design. I let him run with both the Dole Whip and churros designs. He actually created a few different versions of Dole Whip shirts including one that had a tiki drummer. The design for the churros shirt was based off a poster from the Casa de Fritos restaurant that opened in 1955 at Disneyland park. I love how Richard captured a cool retro vibe!"
The Dole Whip and churros shirts aren't the first food-inspired wearable merchandise to hit park shelves; they join the "Nice & Juicy" turkey leg shirt.

I bought my son one of Terpstra's original Dole Whip Shirts and it's fantastic. I'm so hapy for him that they went this way! Designerland (Terpstra's Website) is a fantastic resource for those who want to work with design properties that evoke the feeling of Disney.
