The newest table service restaurant in Epcot's World Showcase is located on the shores of the World Showcase Lagoon in the Morocco pavilion and is serving up small plates of delicious food. Of course we're talking about Spice Road Table which opened to much fanfare at the beginning of the year.
When the restaurant opened it was a walk-up location, which meant guests couldn't make Advance Dining Reservations despite the fact that it was a great place to view IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. The restaurant also didn't participate in the Disney Dining Plan when it first opened.
However, we're happy to report that as of press time this has changed. The Disney Food Blog recently reported that Spice Road Table was taking Advance Dining Reservations but it's not clear if this is only due to the heavy holiday crowds or if the trend will continue. Our suggestion: if you can make an ADR for Spice Road Table, do it! Just know that you can't request an indoor or outdoor seat when making your ADRs.
The restaurant is also now on the Disney Dining Plan as a Table Service destination. The menu has been updated a bit to reflect this change and now features a few full-size entrees in addition to the tapas (small plates) offerings.
Let's talk about the food at Spice Road Table. The menu tells the story of the Spice Road, which was the spice trade conducted between Asia, Northeast Africa, and Europe. The offerings on the menu include "small plates" with hummus and olives, rice stuffed grape leaves, lamb sliders, and new entrees including Coriander Crusted Rack of Lamb and a Mediterranean Vegetable Platter.
Spice Road Table also offers a full-service bar serving Mediterranean beers, sangria, and Mediterranean wines. Wine flights are available in addition to mixed drinks. The kids' menu features simple items with Mediterranean flair including beef sliders and chicken kabobs.
This restaurant is definitely one to visit on your next trip to Epcot. The "small plates" option can lend itself to becoming rather pricey as these items aren't part of the Disney Dining Plan (only the full-sized entrees, kids menu items, and desserts are on the plan). But one of the fun things about visiting Spice Road Table with a group is sampling a little bit of everything with the small plates.
We also love Spice Road Table because of the outdoor seating. While the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous in its own right, there's something to be said for sitting outside on a gorgeous Florida day while you sip a glass of wine and eat good food. You really can't beat the experience.
Have you had a chance to dine at Spice Road Table yet? Will you be making an Advance Dining Reservation for your next trip? Leave us a comment and let us know!
Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their beautiful photos!
