ESPN Wide World of Sports Hosting 2016 Invictus Games

The second Invictus Games will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on May 8-12, 2016. The announcement of the Invictus Games was made by Britain's Prince Harry via a video message on July 14. Prince Harry founded the first Invictus Games that were held in London in 2014.

A description of the Invictus Games describes the games as using the "power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect of all those who serve their country as well as their families and caregivers."

The 2016 Invictus Games will feature more than 400 competitors from nearly 14 nations who will be competing in 10 sports. The events are: archery, cycling, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field, triathlon, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair tennis.

Prince Harry was inspired to create the first Invictus Games after seeing the U.S.-based Warrior Games.

The 2014 Invictus Games included more than 400 competitors from 13 nations and more than 65,000 spectators attended the sporting events with 10 million watching the games on the BBC.
