Happy Halloween! As we're getting ready to hand out oodles of candy and chocolate to trick-or-treaters tonight, it seems like an ideal day to talk about some of our favorite sweet treats and where to find them at Walt Disney World.
Each theme park at Disney World has one or two great spots to find candy, chocolate, cookies, and more. Let's check out a few of our favorites.
When visiting the Magic Kingdom there are two spots where we like to stop for candy and other sweets: The Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats.
The Main Street Confectionery is basically THE candy store of the Magic Kingdom. It's one of the first things you'll see on Main Street U.S.A. and you're pretty much guaranteed to find something delicious in the candy case or on the shelves. And if you're lucky, you might even score a free sample of cotton candy.
The candy case here holds a treasure trove of sweets including fudge, candy apples, caramel apples, cupcakes, and cookies. You'll also find bagged candies, boxed candy and cookies, cotton candy, and more. The store is a sugar high waiting to happen. It's also a great place to take cover from a rain storm!
Another favorite spot to find sweets at the Magic Kingdom is Big Top Treats located in the Storybook Circus area of the park. You'll find Big Top Treats inside Big Top Souvenirs and it's THE place to find homemade caramel corn at the Magic Kingdom.
You'll also find a candy case full of sweet treats including caramel apples, candy apples, cupcakes, chocolate covered fruits, and much more. It's always fun to stop here and watch the Cast Members make the candy creations!
At Disney's Hollywood Studios we like checking out Sweet Spells inside the Beverly Sunset store. Here you'll find a bakery case full of sweets including the recently-introduced Whoopie Pies! Sweet Spells is also a great spot to find holiday-themed cupcakes!
And if you're looking for great cupcakes, you can't beat Starring Rolls, home of the Butterfinger Cupcake and now the one spot where you'll find the almost-world-famous Carrot Cake Cookie that used to be at the Writer's Stop.
When visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom, if you find yourself in need of something sweet we recommend stopping by Zuri's Sweet Shop in the Harambe Market. This isn't your regular, run-of-the-mill candy store. You might remember when Zuri's first opened it was home to the "Match the Species" chocolate candy, a.k.a. "poop candy."
Sadly (or not) the Match the Species candy didn't last long at Zuri's, but you'll still find some unique sweets here that incorporate the Animal Kingdom into the recipe. You'll find boxed and bagged sweets including Zebra Stripe Popcorn, Gummy Spiders, Animal Crackers, and Harissa and African Spiced Popcorns.
The confectionery case at Zuri's is full of fun themed sweets including adorable animal-themed caramel apples (including monkeys and elephants), Iced Animal Sugar Cookies, Marshmallow Animal Pops, and even themed cake pops. Our favorite is the Marshmallow Caramel Zebra Spirals and the solid Milk Chocolate Mickeys.
It should come as no surprise to anyone who visits WDWFG on a regular basis that we love Karamell-Kuche in Epcot's Germany pavilion. This caramel-themed shop is home to the best caramel corn at Walt Disney World plus an entire confectionery case full of caramel-coated treats.
If you've never visited Karamell-Kuche before a few favorite items include the aforementioned caramel corn (get the big bag!), the Chocolate Covered Sea Salt Caramel, caramel apples (ask a Cast Member to slice the apple for easier eating), cookies topped with caramel, and just about anything else in the case. Currently there's also an egg nog caramel square for the holiday season!
Over at Disney Springs you can always stop by Goofy's Candy Company where you can customize your very own Mickey Rice Krispie treat with a variety of toppings. It is one of our favorite spots to find the iconic sweet treat.
Goofy's Candy Company is also a great spot to find bulk candy options, Goofy's Sour Candy Powder, bagged varieties of Goofy's candy, and so much more.
However, if you find yourself craving some seriously decadent chocolate while in Disney Springs we recommend hightailing it over to The Ganachery. This shop opened in late 2015 and is home to 16 flavors of house-made ganache.
The merchandise section of The Ganachery is where you'll find chocolate bars, chocolate pearls, and other sweets. But the real star is the ganache case where you can check out the house-made ganache with the help of some very knowledgeable cast members.
The ganache flavors fall into one of four flavor categories: Spices, Classic, Trendy, and Fruity/Floral. Current seasonal or special flavors include Ganache includes Pumpkin Spice Latte, Cinnamon Apple, Coconut, and Peanut Butter.
Now that we're all daydreaming of chocolates and candies from Disney World, we'd love to hear where you favorite sweet shop is at the Walt Disney World Resort. Leave us a comment and let us know where you cure your sweet tooth.
Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos.
