A Few of Our Favorite Things about Epcot’s Future World

Epcot has in recent years become our second-favorite theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. While the Magic Kingdom will always hold that top spot for nostalgic reasons, if given the choice we're headed to Epcot first every time.

Not to discount any of the parks at Walt Disney World (because we really do love them all) but there's just something about Epcot. It might not have a castle, but it has Spaceship Earth. And it might not be dripping in pixie dust but those twinkling sidewalks in Future World at dusk are pretty darn close.

There is really something for everyone at Epcot from thrill rides to great food to quiet places to just relax. And that's why we love it so much. So today we thought it would be fun to talk about the top 8 things we love most about Future World.

8. Club Cool: No visit to Epcot is complete with a stop at Club Cool. This is the spot to sample Coca-Cola products from around the world and it's totally free (which is always a bonus). Club Cool is a great spot to visit on those hot summer days and it's a must-visit spot when you're with people who haven't yet tried Beverly.

7. Fountain View: If you happen to arrive at Epcot before coffee we suggest stopping by the Fountain View Cafe for your daily dose of Starbucks. You'll find a bakery case full of goodies and a menu with the standard Starbucks beverages. It's a great place to caffeinate (or recharge during the day), and you have a great view of Spaceship Earth and the Fountain of Nations.

6. Fountain of Nations: The Fountain of Nations at Epcot is more than just a pretty, dancing fountain. In 1982 during the International Ceremony of Waters and dedication of the Fountain of Nations, water from 25 bodies of water representing 29 nations was poured into the fountain. The fountain holds 149,000 gallons of water and 200 pneumatic shooters create the dancing waters we all love.

5. Test Track: While we loved Test Track before the 2012 refurbishment we love it even more now. This is always a must-ride attraction whether we have a FastPass+ or not. (Tip: Get your FastPass+ for Soarin' instead and make this your "rope drop" ride). The updated queue and the chance to design your own concept car is a lot more fun than the old crash test dummies. The ride itself is always fun , especially when you get to the "power test" portion. Hold on tight!

4. Mouse Gear: This is one of our favorite places to shop at Walt Disney World Resort. Sure it's huge and we may have gotten "lost" inside on a few occasions, but you can find just about anything you want at Mouse Gear. It's a great place to wander around looking for that perfect souvenir.

3. The Land Pavilion: We love The Land pavilion and not just because it is home to Soarin'. You'll also find one of the best quick service spots in Epcot inside the pavilion at Sunshine Seasons. This is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or even a quick snack). And if you're looking for a fun table service meal you can make reservations at the Garden Grill. And we can't forget about Living with the Land. Some folks might find the attraction boring, but it's one of our favorites!

2. Soarin': No surprise here, Soarin' is near the top of our list of things we love in Future World. This is always a must-do attraction whether we have a FastPass+ or not. (We have waited in the standby queue for almost 2 hours just to ride it!). As much as we love the original attraction we are excited to see what changes will come when the ride is refurbished and updated to Soarin' Around the World in 2016.

1. Spaceship Earth: There's no way around this. We love Spaceship Earth. It's the first attraction we ride when we arrive at Epcot (unless we have to run to Test Track) and it's the last attraction we ride as we leave. And maybe we'll ride it a few more times on that day too. It might be a 16-minute history lesson about communication and technology but it's so much more! From the soundtrack that changes in every scene, to the smell of Rome burning, to the Hidden Mickeys, this is a must-do attraction. And don't forget to thank the Phoenicians.

We have one more thing to add to our list of things we love about Future World and it's this: Future World at twilight. There is something so beautiful and magical about Spaceship Earth glowing with pinks and purples and the Fountain of Nations lit up. It's just so perfect.

There is so much more to love about Future World including The Seas with Nemo and Friends and yes, even Figment and we'd love to hear what you love most. Leave us a comment and let us know your favorite things in Future World.
