We're quickly approaching the dog days of summer and at the Walt Disney World Resort that means heat, humidity, and more heat. When visiting Disney World during those relentless summer days it's important to keep your cool. And we have the perfect way to do just that: Frozen Drinks!
We're talking ice cold, brain-freeze-inducing drinks of both the "adult" and "family friendly" kind. Whether you prefer ice cream or slushes or both we're picking our top 5 frozen drinks and sharing them with you! Let's get drinking!
5. Grand Marnier Slush: If you're visiting Epcot's France pavilion and you feel yourself melting into the pavement walk as quickly as you can to Les Vins des Chefs de France and order yourself a "grownup slush." Our favorite is the Grand Marnier version but Les Vins also serves up a delicious Grey Goose Citron Slush. Both are very easy to drink (VERY easy), so beware of (1) brain freeze and (2) tipsiness that sort of sneaks up on ya!
The Grand Marnier Slush recently made Disney Food Blog's #OnTheList series! And if you're feeling really adventurous we suggest ordering the "supersize" version of either the Grand Marnier Slush or the Grey Goose Citron Slush. The "supersize" glass holds 12 ounces of cold deliciousness while the regular size is a mere eight ounces. (The supersize drinks also have an extra shot of vodka or Grand Marnier depending on which drink you order. Consider this your warning.)
4. Ice Cream Martini: Now if you find yourself melting in France and ice cream is the only cure we have to recommend an Ice Cream Martini (!!!) from L'Artisans des Glaces. We'll be the first to admit that ice cream cures everything but when you add a topper of Grand Marnier, imported Rhum from Martinique, or Whipped Cream Vodka to the mix...well, we're talking ice cream heaven. With 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbet from which to choose you could enjoy a different Ice Cream Martini every day of your vacation!
3. Yak Attack: One of our favorite drinks to enjoy while strolling through Disney's Animal Kingdom is the Yak Attack. You'll find this gorgeous drink (really it's so pretty!) with a funny name at Yak and Yeti Quality Beverages. This frozen concoction is made with Mango Daquiri Mix, Light Rum, and Wildberry. The drink has a fruity flavor with just the slightest hint of rum. A word of caution: this sweet and sour drink packs a punch. Also, like our French friend up there at #5, this one comes with a brain freeze warning.
2. Hard Floats and Milkshakes: These grownup beverages are all the rage right now at Walt Disney World and you'll find them at Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club Resort and at the newly-opened D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs.
We're particularly fond of the FIVE new varieties at Beaches and Cream: a S'mores Shake made with vanilla ice cream, Amarula Cream liqueur, and Cream de Dark Coco topped with marshmallow, chocolate and graham; a Root Beer Float made with hard root beer; a Grasshopper Float made with mint chocolate chip ice cream and Guinness Stout; the Tropical Sunrise Float made with Rainbow Sherbet and Ace Pineapple Hard Cider; and the Stout Float made with Guinness Stout and vanilla ice cream.
You really can't go wrong with any of these grown up floats and shakes. They're available inside Beaches and Cream and to go!
1. Dole Whip Float: OK, this cult favorite from Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom is good for the whole family and it is a MUST HAVE on a hot summer day in Central Florida. Dole Whip topped with pineapple juice is the perfect treat to enjoy in the shade. Note: If you're looking for Dole Whip topped with rum you'll need to head over to Tamu Tamu Refreshments in the Animal Kingdom. ;-)
This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the frozen drinks you can enjoy this summer at Disney World. Honorable mentions go out to LeFou's Brew from Gaston's Tavern in the Magic Kingdom, the American Dream Slush in Epcot, milkshakes (especially those bottomless shakes at Whispering Canyon Cafe), and frozen margaritas in Epcot's Mexico pavilion.
What is your favorite frozen beverage at Walt Disney World? We'd love to hear about them so leave us a comment.

I wish the frozen desert violet lemonade from flower and Garden was available year round! That was so refreshing the other day.
