The Magic Kingdom is home to a variety of great counter service locations and no matter what you're craving, you're sure to find that perfect place. But despite all the delicious options, there's one counter service spot that I just have to visit every single time I'm in the Magic Kingdom, and that place is Casey's Corner.
Casey's Corner is located at the end of Main Street U.S.A. and it is a very popular spot for guests at the Magic Kingdom. Not only will you find great outdoor seating with views of Main Street U.S.A. (and the parades!), but it's also a place where good food is a guarantee. And, the baseball theme is perfect for a hot dog restaurant! All-American all the way.
Great food combined with great views means Casey's Corner is always (always!) busy. In years past you would often find yourself balancing a full tray of food while trying to find a seat. But in early 2014 the old bleacher "seats" inside the restaurant were removed and now you'll find a real inside seating area with tables and chairs.
The outdoor seating area normally offers guests great views of Main Street U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle. This means it's a popular place to eat and watch the parades and the nighttime castle show and fireworks. The on-going expansion of the Hub area may add more outdoor seating for Casey's, which would be wonderful since currently your view of Cinderella Castle is rather obscured by green walls. But the candy-striped chairs and red and white umbrellas are still charming.
Casey's Corner is one of my favorite spots to grab a late dinner and find a seat outside just before Wishes begins. There's something magical about dining on a simple hot dog and fries (with cheese!) and hearing the first notes of Wishes music. You really need to experience that at least once.
Now let's talk about the food at Casey's. The menu features hot dogs and more hot dogs. You can choose from a standard hot dog, a chili cheese dog, a polish sausage, or a gourmet barbecue slaw dog. Other items include corn dog nuggets (delish!), ball park nachos (topped with chili and cheese), and fries.
And of course no hot dog meal is complete without Cracker Jack for dessert, but brownies and cotton candy are also on the menu.
The toppings bar for the hot dogs (and fries and nachos, of course!) includes relish, sauerkraut (!!), onions, mustard, ketchup, salsa, jalapenos, and of course "plastic" cheese. (It's not really plastic, but it IS wonderful). Our friends at the Disney Food Blog have a delicious review of the specialty hot dogs on the menu at Casey's.
Aside from the food and the location, the theme of Casey's is part of the fun. Inside the restaurant you'll find cast members in baseball uniforms and the walls are decked out in baseball memorabilia. Outside the front door guests are greeted by a life-size statue of a baseball player, and near the outdoor seating area you'll often find Jim playing ragtime tunes on the piano.
Sure you could get a hot dog at other spots around the park, but the combination of the food, atmosphere, and location make Casey's Corner tops on my must-visit list every single time.
Is Casey's a must-do meal for you at the Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments!
Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos.
