Have you heard about the Hidden Mickey guy? Steve Barrett is the author of Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets. It's a fun look at all the different hidden Mickeys all over Walt Disney World property.
What is a hidden Mickey, you say? Barrett defines it as, "A partial or complete impression of Mickey Mouse placed by the Imagineers and artists to blend into the designs of Disney attractions, hotels, restaurants, and other areas."
Barrett, an ER physician, fell in love with Disney while attending a conference in the 1980s, and learned about hidden Mickeys in the mid 1990s. He moved to Orlando in 1998, and started researching hidden Mickeys in earnest in 2002.
The Hidden Mickey Guide website has a great catalog of hidden Mickeys to get you started. There's also a super-convenient Hidden Mickeys iPhone app for on-the-go Mickey hunting!
A couple years back, Barrett took it a step further with Hidden Mickeys Go to Sea: A Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line's Best Kept Secrets, with info on both the Disney Magic and Wonder. We hope there will be a new edition including the Dream soon!
Here's a recent interview with Barrett on Travel with Rick.

I'd like to get the iPhone app.... But $8 is a lot of money for something I can get on the Internet for free...

I love searching for Hidden Mickeys! I have Steve's book for Disneyland and check out the website often. I don't have an iPhone so I don't get to have the app... :0(
