The next time you visit Orlando for a Walt Disney World vacation, maybe think about going green and renting an electric car.
The nation's largest electric car rental fleet is launching in Orlando as part of the Drive Electric Orlando program. And the Walt Disney World Resort is a partner in the program.
The electric car rental program is the only one of its kind in the country and some of the other program partners include the Orlando Convention Center, Enterprise, Travelocity, GM, and Nissan. The car company is providing the first fleet of Nissan Leaf.
Guests in Orlando will find 300 free public charging stations around the area, and most of the partner hotels will valet your electric car and charge it for you for free. Around the Walt Disney World Resort area, there are charging stations at the Caribbean Beach Resort, Wyndham Bonnet Creek, and Hilton Bonnet Creek.
If you're interested in renting an electric car on your next trip, visit the Drive Electric Orlando website or the Enterprise website, or contact your travel agent. Car and hotel packages are available at certain resorts (currently no Disney resorts are offering packages). And unlike the charges you encounter with a "traditional" rental car, there are no fuel charges with an electric car.

So if there are free charging stations= free fuel, What are they charging per day for the rental fee ? Will they charge similar rates as Enterprise and Alamo ?

Vanessa - we don't have any information other than what is offered through the website that we linked here. When I went through to price it took me to the Enterprise website and the cost was $45 a day (using today as my rental date).

Electric cars are gaining pace day by day slowly. But more use of these should be encouraged. This will lead to a pollution free green environment and also save our energy resources. Mercedes Repair Portland
