It was off, and now it could be on. We're talking, of course, about the Johnny Depp/ Disney collaboration "The Lone Ranger."
Back in August, Disney halted production on the movie over budget issues. Sources are now saying these issues look to be resolved soon which means a crew can be rehired so production can start early in 2012.
It appears a reworking of the film's budget has been happening, trimming it down from $250 million to $215 million. Part of the scale back includes new deals for star Johnny Depp as well as director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. This will be another collaboration between the three, following on the heels of the very successful first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
Depp, who is set to play Tonto, will be joined for the big screen version of "The Lone Ranger" by Armie Hammer (set to play the Ranger). Ruth Wilson will take the role of the female lead.
"The Lone Ranger" has a release date of December 21, 2012.
