The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closing this Month
You can add The Magic of Disney Animation to the growing list of extinct attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The attraction, which has been at the park since 1989, is set to close forever on July 12 to make way for a new guest experience.
The Magic of Disney Animation closing July 12
In the old Disney-MGM Studio days guests could visit The Magic of Disney Animation and actually see Disney animators at work. That all ended when the animators left and the Studios were less about actual movie making. Now, guests can line up to meet Minnie Mouse, Sorcerer Mickey, Sofia the First, and currently Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6.
Other activities inside the attraction include a film on the creation of Disney characters, The Sound Stage, and Animation Station where guests can learn to draw their favorite Disney characters.
The Animation Gallery next door to The Magic of Disney Animation will remain open until August.
Disney's Hollywood Studios has seen some big changes lately with the recent removal of the Sorcerer's Hat and the closure of the Studio Backlot Tour and the American Idol Experience. Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that the park will be renamed at some point, although no names have been announced.
The guest experience that will replace The Magic of Disney Animation has not yet been announced.

We love this attraction. Drawing characters is one of the fun free ways to be part of the Disney experience! I hate to see this go. Hope they think about including this in a new attraction for budding animators.
