Magic Kingdom Drew Highest Attendance Among Theme Parks In 2011

The annual theme park attendance rates are in and the Magic Kingdom finds itself at the top of the list. AECOM, a professional technical and management support services firm, compiled the information from parks worldwide and the Themed Entertainment Association published the info.

Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom had over 17 million visitors in 2011 to put it at the number one spot. Disneyland claimed the second spot with over 16 million visitors. In fact, the first eight spots on the list are all claimed by Disney parks. Here are the parks who claimed were listed third through eighth on the list: Disneyland Tokyo, Tokyo DisneySea, Disneyland Paris, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studio.

All Disney parks on the list saw an increase in attendance from the previous year with the exception of the Tokyo parks. Both parks saw a drop in the number of people visiting - expected because of the devestating tsunami that wracked much of Japan.

Very cool. I think that most interesting to me is that even though Disneyland is *so* much smaller and has such hugely different demographics, it only trailed it's East coast sister by 1 million people.

And Disney's California Adventure didn't make it into the top 10? I couldn't load the full list and verify, but I'll bet it was because of all the construction. It'll be back up there with the rest of Disney parks after Cars Land opens!
