If there's one thing that you can be sure of at Walt Disney World, it's that things are going to change. There's always something new going on, attractions refreshed, new lands added, and restaurants and menu's relaunched - it's part of what makes each and every Disney vacation special and magical. Now, I know we've recently sung the praises of the burgers and BBQ at Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, well, forget all of that, because Disney just launched a brand new menu for the establishment.
The reimagined menu, features what is being called "tasty Tex-Mex cuisine," and features beef, chicken, or vegetarian rice bowls, fajita platters, and southwest salads. The famous Pecos Bill's Topping bar has been re-themed to offer a variety of peppers, cheese, and salsa's so that guests can top the fairly bare bowls that are sure to come through the window.
If you're thinking that it all seems a bit familiar, that could be because it's pretty much the Tortuga Tavern concept. Tortuga Tavern has been operating seasonally with a fairly similar menu right around the corner from Pecos Bill's in Adventureland. While the food they serve up at Tortuga comes out fast, and isn't "bad," it also isn't really what could be called inspired. I'm sure the changes will be met with grumblings from Pecos Bill Burger fans, because even on our small staff the voice of dissent is loud.
A hopeful bright spot in the refresh is some themed fun on the desserts menu that features Churros and Sopaipilla. If done right, those may be reason enough to make a stop at Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
The full menu, which is the same for lunch and dinner, can be found online here. What are your thoughts on the new menu? Are you looking forward to eating there? Have you tasted the new fare? Leave a comment and let us know!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not opposed to adding new items but I don't think Pecos should have eliminated burgers altogether . My kids HATE tex mex. They were so looking forward to going to Pecos Bill for burgers. Where can we get reasonable priced burgers in the park now?

Not a fan of Tex-Mex. I'll be avoiding Pecos Bill's in the future.

Say it ain't so!! NO! Pecos Bill has been a favorite since our first trip and we've gone every time. We were disappointed enough this time to find that the burger with onion rings was missing. Now it's all gone? Very, very disappointed. Good thing we got to go one last time.

Lisa - For Burgers and BBQ the place to head now is Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland. You can find there full menu here.

Very disappointed - if I wanted Tex-mex food (which I don't) I'd go to the Mexico pavilion at EPCOT. Looks like we'll be going the less atmospheric Starlight Cafe from now on :(

Not too happy about the change. This was our go to quick service spot, as we thought the burgers are fries were pretty good. Now I guess we'll have to try Cosmic Ray's.
