New Radiator Springs Ride to Debut in 2012

Fans wanting something new in Disney's California Adventure will have their wish. A new ride called Radiator Springs is set to make its premiere in 2012 in the park's Car Land.

Resembling Epcot's renowned Fast Track ride a bit, guests situated in vehicles will be able to take a four minute ride through a Cars-inspired landscape side-by-side with another car. The conclusion of each ride will randomly choose a "winner."

Earlier this year, the LA Times released a complete start-to-finish preview of the ride. If you'd like a bit more detail, read on; beware, spoilers ahead!

The queue area for Radiator Springs will have guests waiting in the Tap N Gap roadside radiator shop prior to boarding. In the loading area, which is designed to look like a "fender-shaped cavern," guests will hear the story of the upcoming ride from the Sheriff and will board cars that hold six people.

Once on the ride, guests will experience a road trip through Ornament Valley. Along the way, they will encounter Mack the truck and Mater the tow truck.

The ride progresses into Radiator Springs, and guests are able to get advice on winning the race from the likes of Lightning McQueen, Sally and others. A quick tire change or hasty paint job is also had in Radiator Springs. At last, the flags are dropped and the high-speed race begins!

Concept art detailing the sneek peak of the ride can be seen at the LA Times website.
