'Olu Mel is the kindhearted 'ukulele-playing sea turtle mascot of Disney's Aulani Resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii. He's been exclusive to Aulani since his debut in 2018, but the spirit of Aloha he brings to fans simply can't be contained because you can currently find the little guys taking a vacay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. I noticed this sign in the Great Ceremonial House last week and had to check out 'Olu Mel for myself.
So just who is 'Olu? As the story goes Mickey Mouse and his pal Duffey were sailing the islands for a perfect birthday present for ShellieMay (Duffy's girlfriend), they could hear the sounds of calling them over to a cove where a kindhearted turtle names 'Olu played happy tunes.
'Olu greeted Duffy with a smile and said, "I play my 'ukulele to make songs of love. Want to sing with me?"
"That would be the perfect present for ShellieMay!" said Duffy. Off to her birthday party they went, sining the special song of friendship and love.
The merchandise available span the range of usual Duffy The Disney Bear type products with plush coin purses and back backs, keychains, magnets, pins, and stuffies in adorable outfits. You can currently also find 'Olu at shopDisney.com
'Olu Mel will only be available at Disney's Polynesian Resort for a limited time due to the prolonged closure of Disney's Aulani Resort. Be sure to enjoy the treats and merchandise while they are available. Our friends over at the Disney Food Blog reviews the 'Olu Mel Cupcake and we took on the 'Olu Mel Dole Whip just to cover all the bases.
