Hello Marvel-files, Disney-files and anyone who loves the comicbook universe. It is I, your resident superhero fan and general scifi nerd, bringing to you the hottest news from around the web. In this installment of the Bullpen, we report on the coming of Spiderman and his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Let me say that again - Spiderman is finally returning to the MCU.

After the announcement several months ago of Captain America 3 would be following the Civil War storyline, the online and superhero community wondered when one of its most important characters would make an appearance. As it turns out, we got the answer much sooner then anyone could have imagined.

In an unknown deal (though rumors abound) Sony pictures has returned the resident webslinger to Marvel. As reported by Marvel.com; This is more of a merger between Sony and Marvel, rather then a complete return of property. Spiderman will currently remain an owned property of Sony Films, however Spiderman will be brought into the current MCU and everything from directors to actors, storylines to merchandising will be shared by both by both companies with Sony having the final, creative control. At least, that is, until the property returns, 100% to Marvel and Disney. While we don't know the specifics of this deal we do know that this return of property has changed the release dates of many of the upcoming marvel properties over the coming years.

In addition to the big Sony/Marvel news Disney has even more motion picture magic in store for fans during 2017. Two more proven titles in the Disney arsenal, Toy Story and Pirates of the Caribbean, will be refreshing their brands and taking another shot at increasing their audience base. All this on top of a brand new Star Wars movie makes for one mega year of blockbuster motion pictures for the Walt Disney Company.

Let's take a quick look at the 2017 line-up:

  • May 5, 2017 - Marvel "Guardians of the Galaxy 2"
  • June 16, 2017 - Pixar "Toy Story 4"
  • July 7, 2017 - Disney "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales"
  • July 28, 2017 - Marvel / Sony Pictures Untitled Spider-Man movie
  • Nov. 3, 2017 - Marvel "Thor: Ragnarok"
  • Dec. 2017 - Lucasfilm "Star Wars: Episode VIII"

We would love to know what you, our readers, think of this line up? Are you as excited as we are? Is there one particular movie that you can't wait to see, leave a comment below and share your thoughts!
