Just in case Star Wars Weekends weren't cool enough, this year Disney is presenting all-new technology to take the coolness factor to a whole new level.
For the first time ever, Disney is utilizing augmented reality to give guests virtual character experiences, provide additional information on guide maps, and interact with the Star Wars Weekend logo.
This hi-tech fun is being provided by HP, the official technology partner for Disney Parks.
If you're wondering what augmented reality is when it comes to Star Wars Weekends, check out this video from Disney.
In order to take advantage of this technology guests need to download the free Aurasma app from the App Store or Android Market. The app can be downloaded to a smart phone or tablet. (Disney says the app will ask you to register and wants guests to realize they are not required to do so, and guests can click on "Skip" on the final welcome screen).
This new technology can be used by guests in certain areas in Disney's Hollywood Studios and on the event's guide maps.
