Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks At Disney's Animal Kingdom

As night falls across the quaint village of Serka Zong cafe lights blink on overhead. Guests start to filter towards their seats for the elegant nighttime show, Rivers of Light. Across from an entrance to the stadium seating, those looking to wet their whistle while they wait can pick up a cocktail at the small open-air bar called Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks.

Thirsty River specializes in frozen beverages, cocktails and beer, along with a selection easy grab and go snacks. Most patrons will find a good selection to quench their thirst, and the food is enough to give guests a little something to munch on while waiting for the show.

Even though I'm not a beer drinker, I was intrigued by the interesting menu sporting a few fun and exotic selections including:

  • Victory Golden Monkey Draft: Strong Belgian-style Tripel with Coriander notes
  • Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale: Deep Amber-spiced Ale
  • Old Elephant Foot IPA: highly hopped medium-bodied Ale
  • Funky Buddha Floridian Hefeweizen: German-style Wheat Beer
  • Hitachino Nest White Ale: a charming Blonde mildly-hopped Belgian-style Beer
  • Maduro Brown Ale: traditional English-style Brown Ale with Porter notes
  • Tiger Beer Asian Lager: featuring Tropical Fruit Malt with spicy Hops
  • McKenzie's Black Cherry Hard Cider: a rich Amber Cider with sweet Cherry finish
  • and of course, there is always Bud Light

Having hit my alcohol limit for the day, I ordered a Pink Lotus. A combination of Monin Wild Strawberry syrup, Lychee, and Odwalla Lemonade the flavor combination came across as overwhelmingly sweet. While it wasn't bad, it was a little hard to drink due to the cloying syrup.

While Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks doesn't make my list of favorite bars at Disney's Animal Kingdom, it's a good spot for grab and go service with a unique drink menu.

How has you experience been at Thirsty River? I'd love to hear what you've been drinking there.
