It's hot outside, really hot, and when the weather gets like this my mind turns to just one sweet treat that can't be beat - Ice Cream! Walt Disney World has an abundance of sweet and icy options for guests when they want something to help cool down in that Florida sun, so we're counting down our top 9 favorites!
Ice Cream Martinis - The french know how to do it right and we're starting off with two treats from L'Artisan des Glaces in Epcot's France Pavilion. First up, it's the delicious and luxurious ice cream or sorbet with an alcohol topper! Served in a martini glass, you can choose you're favorite flavor and top it with Grand Marnier, Clement Rhum from Martinique, and Whipped Cream flavored Epic Vodka!
Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwiches - Also from L'Artisan des Glaces and continue the indulgent selections of decedent desserts. Not only in the ice cream silky smooth, but the macarons here are the absolute best on property with that perfect light crisp outside giving way to a soft chewy center. C'est Magnifique!
Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich - Rich, soft, chocolate chip cookies with frosty vanilla ice cream smooshed in the middle is always a hit at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in the Magic Kingdom.
Mickey's Kitchen Sink - Lovingly dubbed the "Mickey Pants Sundae" it's a shareable sundae that comes with it's own adorable souvenir. This relatively new favorite can be found at Plaza/Main Street Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, and comes with chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream covered in a crazy combo of sauces and toppings.
Apple Crisp a' la Mode - An American classic from Hollywood Scoops in Disney's Hollywood Studios has "cinnamon apples topped with old-fashioned vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and streusel top that's out of this world!
Dole Whip - I know, this non-dairy classic isn't technically ice cream, but how could I make a cool down list without mentioning this cult classic? The original versions of Dole Whip can be found at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom, and the Pineapple Lanai at Disney's Polynesian Resort. However for a fun and grown-up twist try it topped with spiced rum at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in the Harmbe Village section of Disney's Animal Kingdom!
Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bars - Available all over the Property Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars can be found at ice cream carts in the Parks and at most resort Counter Service Restaurants.
Chocolate Quake Shake - Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs is home to what seriously may be the best chocolate shake in the world. The ingredients are simple and pure, but this Ghirardelli chocolate bar infused shake is a sinful sweet and can be enhanced with a variety of flavors like coconut, caramel, or mint.
The Kitchen Sink - This mega-sundae is a challenge to even the biggest ice cream fan. On the menu at Disney's Beach Club resort's retro soda shop Beaches and Cream, Guests ordering up the Kitchen Sink can expect eight rich and creamy scoops, then it gets piled high with Oreos, candy bars, cake, bananas, cherries, brownies, all of the toppings in the house and an entire can of whipped cream.
