Walt Disney World Resort Updating Guest Laundry Facilities

While doing laundry during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation probably doesn't sound like much fun, each resort is equipped with guest laundry facilities that feature washers and dryers in addition to vending machines that sell detergent and fabric softener.

Recently, all Walt Disney World Resort hotels including the Disney Vacation Club Villas updated their guest laundry facilities with new washers and dryers.

These new machines are high efficiency and "technologically advanced" and will provide guests with faster wash and dry times, which is beneficial when you have parks to visits and other fun things to do.

Guests can also choose to receive a text message that alerts them when their loads are done, just in case you'd rather wait out the laundry by the pool. The machines will display availability and remaining cycle times on a mobile website too.

The new washers and dryers should be installed in all resorts at this time.

I've only used a resort laundry room once, and learned the best time is definitely not evening. There was a line of people waiting for a washer, so I didn't stick around. The new machines will help some, I expect, but it's probably still better to do your washing during the day - I was the only one doing laundry when I returned the next afternoon.

I use the laundry at Boardwalk Villas about once a trip. It's mostly empty midday. I put the clothes in the washer with some soap pods I packed and then head back to the room to change into swim trunks or head to the pool bar to do some reading

It definitely helps lighten suitcases when you don't have to bring enough clothes to last the whole length of stay.

We used the facilities at Port Orleans FQ last week and everything worked fine. Machines seemed to be available at all times. Wash cycles lasted just 35 to 40 mins and driers took 1 hour. Each machine was paid by credit card (or pre-paid via reception, I think). I didn't see any reference to text messages...but there was no need as we just went back to the pool whilst the laundry was in operation. The facilities were always very clean and the machines seemed efficient.

I go to Disney every year and do laundry every year!! I am so happy they are up grading the laundry facilities because I have to sit in the laundry room until all of our clothes are done because nothing aggravates me more than the selfish people that put their clothes in the washer or dryer and leave them there for hours. I do not know how many times I've had to wait for a washer and dryer!! Not only that they really need to be up graded!! Thank you Disney ....looking forward to our visit in November and I know I will be doing laundry at your resort again!!

This is great but I never found doing laundry to be a problem when at a Disney resort. The laundry facilities are convenient to the pools so you can be close enough to enjoy a swim while getting a few things clean. Bring a few laundry pods and dryer sheets in your suitcases and you will be good to go! We have always done our wash while taking a break in the afternoon from the heat of the park, never had any trouble with lines or waiting. In fact, don't think anyone has ever been doing laundry at the same time.

My favorite time to do laundry is super late at night when all my kids are in bed. i put the laundry in and then head over to another resort to relax for a bit. last trip i went to Wilderness Lodge and got a magic cookie and milk from Roaring Fork and sat in a rocker by the fire. One of the best nights of the trip! lol

I regularly do laundry at Disney, whether I'm staying in a DVC property or a resort. It certainly helps in packing less for the vacation (more room for Vinylmations!), and it takes just a couple of hours during a "day of rest" where we're relaxing at our room or pool.

Glad that I won't need to bring a roll of quarters anymore, and that these new machines will be faster.
