Walt Disney World's Moderate Resorts

We've taken a look at Disney's Deluxe Resort Hotels, let's head across property and check out the fantastic offerings available at the diverse Disney Moderate class hotels. Slightly more upscale than your bare bones hotel, Disney's moderate resorts offer the beautiful immersive theming of the Deluxe resorts for a less money and several have quite dedicated fan bases.

The buildings at Disney's Moderate resorts all have exterior motel style entrances that open directly from your room onto a covered walkway. With standard rooms roughly having 314 square feet of space. Though most of these rooms can only accommodate four guests on two queen sized beds, some of the rooms at Port Orleans Riverside have a 5th fold down bed that can hold a child or small adult. You'll find that the resorts theming reaches into the furnishings of these rooms and you will find ample linens and toiletries by H2O+.

The Moderate Resorts is where you'll find the exciting themed rooms at Walt Disney World. At Port Orleans Riverside you can upgrade your standard room to one of Tiana's Royal Guest Rooms. At Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort you can request one of two specialty rooms, dedicated to either Finding Nemo or Pirates of the Caribbean. These unique designs add a little bit of extra magic for your stay. At the Coronado Springs Resort junior suites and club level rooms are also available.

Disney's Moderate Resorts Include:

  • Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside
  • Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Coronado Springs Resort
  • Cabins at Fort Wilderness

The restaurant configuration at the Disney Moderate hotel properties differ, but most offer at least one table service restaurant, a counter service food court, a full bar and a pool bar, and pizza delivery or room service. The family friendly food and servers keep most guests full and happy.

Unique main pool areas have thematic water elements that are fun and family friendly. The main pool areas are home to hot tubs and a basic poolside bar. Due to their spread out nature, the moderate resorts also have additional quiet pools scattered on the property.

The Disney moderate hotels offer bus transportation around the WDW property. If you're staying at the Port Orleans Resort you also have a direct boat to Downtown Disney, which is one of the nicest rides on property. All Disney Properties offer free Wi-Fi as well as cabled high-speed Internet access, laundry services, and in-room refrigerators.

Overall Disney's Moderate Resorts offer a range of amenities that will delight any family looking for an immersive Disney vacation without the high price of the Deluxe Resorts. Do you enjoy staying at Disney's Moderate Resorts? Which one is your favorite? Leave a comment and let me know!

I have only stayed at a moderate. The last time I stayed on property was at PO-Riverside. This time it will be PO-FQ.

CSR is our favorite. I love he few extra amenities that it offers over the other mods and the main pool area is tops.

My family and I have stayed at both Port Orleans - French Quarter and Riverside and our favorite is by far "Riverside"!!! As mentioned by others, the grounds with the winding paths and river being right there are sure to please even the pickiest individual who demands a little more from a resort. We love to take the scenic water taxi's to Downtown Disney for shopping, show's and dinner and with not having to fight the packed buses it proves to be less stressful for all. We've purchased DVC and one of the prerequisites was that we had to try and get a resort that could allow us to use the water taxi's like we do at Port Orleans...

The Port Orleans Riverside is beautifully landscaped and all the rooms are extremely nice. We really like the boat transportation to Downtown Disney. we are planning another trip for Thanksgiving 2013 and regularly travel to Disney World at least once a year. You're NEVER to old for Disney World. Can't wait to take our new Grand Baby in 2017 0r 2018.
