Disney Scores Eight Academy Award Nominations

The Walt Disney Studios has earned eight Academy Award nominations including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Early Oscar favorites Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson did not receive nominations for their roles at Walt Disney and P.L. Travers, and Saving Mr. Banks was shut out of the Best Picture category. The film did get nominated for Best Original Score.

Disney has released the trailer and first image of Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in the film Saving Mr. Banks. In the photo, Walt is showing P.L. Travers - played by Emma Thompson - around Disneyland as he tries to convince her to allow a movie adaptation of her novel Mary Poppins.

The buzz got a little bit louder after the movie premiered at the BFI London Film Festival to enthusiastic applause and great reviews.

The film has its US premiere on November 7 in Los Angeles at the AFI Fest. The film's premiere is taking place at the Chinese Theater, the same location where Mary Poppins premiered in 1964.
