Soon Walt Disney World Resort won't be the only Disney Park utilizing the billion dollar MyMagic+ program that includes the ubiquitous MagicBands. According to recent reports, the system will be expanded at other Disney theme parks in some variation.

MyMagic+ Honored with Innovation Award from Fast Company

Disney's MyMagic + was recently honored with the Innovation by Design award by Fast Company magazine.

The guest experience system was named the winner in the "Experience" category at the annual award ceremony in New York City.

Apple Pay Coming to Walt Disney World Resort in October

Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort will have a new way to pay for merchandise in October, provided they have the new iPhone 6.

Apple Pay is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort this fall and it will allow guests to make purchases at locations throughout the resort using their iPhone.

Paying for purchases with Apple Pay requires a single step and Disney joins merchandisers including Macy's, Whole Foods, Bloomingdales, McDonald's, Subway, and Staples as the first retailers and restaurants where Apple Pay will be utilized.

Disney Executive Who Oversaw Development of MyMagic+ Set to Leave Walt Disney Company in July

The Walt Disney Company executive who headed the development of the MyMagic+ program is leaving the company.

Nick Franklin has been with The Walt Disney Company since 1996 and is the longest-serving member of the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts executive committee.

A Disney spokesperson said the decision to leave the company was Franklin's and he is planning to help other companies use innovation the way he did with Disney.

Disney Reports MyMagic+ System is Working for Guests at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney Company is reporting that the MyMagic+ system is working for guests on several levels.

During a conference call to discuss the company's fiscal second quarter results, Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo told analysts that Disney is "pleased with some of the changes in guest behavior and park dynamics" with regard to MyMagic+.

The company said one of the biggest benefits they're seeing is the increase in the number of guests who are planning their trip details in advance of their vacation.

Summer of 2014 Brings New Magic to Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort

This summer promises to be one for the memory books for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Summer officially kicks off at Disney on May 23 with the bi-coastal Rock Your Disney Side: 24 Hours party at the Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure. This 24-hour party starts at 6 a.m. on May 23 and ends at 6 a.m. May 24 local time.

MyMagic+ Continuing to Transform Walt Disney World Experience for Guests

The Walt Disney World Resort is still in the midst of the "test and adjust" phase of MyMagic+ but guests have been able to take advantage of some changes brought about by MyMagic+.

The MyDisneyExperience.com mobile app and website allows guests to plan their vacation at home and make changes on the go in the parks. The app features itinerary tools and gives guests the ability to scheduled FastPass+ reservations in advance or on the day of their visit.

Next year promises to be a very magical year for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort with the opening of a new attraction and the debut of a new parade at the Magic Kingdom, plus much more.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is set to open in the spring of 2014, completing the New Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom. The ride takes guests on a musical ride through the mines, and was inspired by the classic animated film.

Walt Disney World Resort Park Entrances Are Now Turnstile Free

The Magic Kingdom reached an important milestone at the end of November when the park's last touch point entry system was unveiled.

With the unveiling at the Magic Kingdom means that all Walt Disney World Resort park entrances are now turnstile free.

Earlier this year, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon was the first park at the Walt Disney World Resort to see the turnstiles switched out for touch point entries. Throughout the year the other parks have had their turnstiles replaced by touch point systems.
