MyMagic+ Program and MagicBands Expanding to Other Disney Parks

Soon Walt Disney World Resort won't be the only Disney Park utilizing the billion dollar MyMagic+ program that includes the ubiquitous MagicBands. According to recent reports, the system will be expanded at other Disney theme parks in some variation.

Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort have been using MyMagic+ and MagicBands for the past couple of years, experiencing the good and the bad when it comes to the program. The MagicBands act as a room key for Disney resort hotels, theme park tickets, FastPass+ tickets, and can even be used to purchase food and merchandise.

However, Disney's Chief Operating Officer Tom Staggs recently said that Disney has plans to roll out "variations" of the MyMagic+ system to other Disney parks around the world.

In addition to the MagicBands, the program also includes the My Disney Experience section on the Disney Parks website and a mobile app that can be used inside the theme parks. To date more than 11 million MagicBands have been used by guests.

There is no official word yet on what parks might see the technology next.

Where do you think Disney will expand MyMagic+ next? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Might want to clarify this story, considering they just announced that MagicBands will definitely NOT be coming to Disneyland.

Of course, this doesn't preclude the other parks around the world, but the geography and guest demographics make it hard to implement at Disneyland.

Rob - It will be interesting to see how they do the FastPass+ testing this summer at Disneyland Anaheim without incorporating MagicBands.
