Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Celebrates Soft Opening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

This past weekend was the soft opening of Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. And if you happened to get in during the soft opening, consider yourself lucky! Word on the street is there was a several-hour wait just to get in to the new Tiki bar.

Ongoing Renovations at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Include Club Disney and Updated Pool Area

Not only has Disney's Polynesian Village Resort recently gone through a name change, but the resort is also going through a complete re-imagining.

A few weeks ago it was announced that Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is opening in 2015. Trader Sam's will feature a themed lounged area and will serve hand-crafted tiki cocktails in souvenir mugs.

Whimsical Fun Await At Trader Sam's Grog Grotto

Tucked away in a back hall of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, guests will find an unassuming door that leads to a truly enchanted bar. Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is a tiki hideaway that transports guests to a fanciful the South Seas retreat where anything can happen. My daughter and I stopped by on our last trip to enjoy the whimsical fun served-up by the crew.

As the usually designated driver in my friend group, I don't often drink much at home. However, thanks to the complimentary transportation at the Walt Disney World Resort I'm free to imbibe as I please. As a huge fan of Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel, I was more than thrilled when Trader Sam's Grog Grotto opened earlier this summer at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World. This Magical bar is a Tiki lover's dream with a fun South Pacific feel and just the right touch of imagination bringing fantasy to life.

It's well known that I love to kick off my Disney vacations with an opening night monorail crawl that beginning at the Polynesian's Tambu Tambu Lounge for a legendary Lapu Lapu. Disney announced last week that soon I'll have a brand new place to kick off my trip and celebrate my love of all things tiki!
