Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Celebrates Soft Opening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

This past weekend was the soft opening of Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. And if you happened to get in during the soft opening, consider yourself lucky! Word on the street is there was a several-hour wait just to get in to the new Tiki bar.

Trader Sam's Grog Grotto was founded by Adventureland's "head" salesman, Trader Sam, and while it is somewhat similar to the West Coast version, the themeing is reflective of the Polynesian Village Resort. The menu includes "magical tropical drinks and food" that were created just for Walt Disney World Resort.

The Trader Sam's cocktails will be available in collectible Tiki mugs and the menu is a mix of new and old drinks.

The menu at Trader Sam's Grog Grotto will feature new drinks including the Polynesian Pearl, Nautilus, Castaway Crush, Tahitian Torch, and Dark & Tropical Stormy. Drinks "imported" from Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar include Krakatoa Punch, Uh-Oa!, Hippopoto Mai-Tai, and Shrunken Zombie Head.

If you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink Trader Sam's Grog Grotto will be serving up Schweitzer Falls, Skipper Sipper, and Polynesian Punch.

Some of the food items from the West Coast include chicken lettuce cups with hoisin ginger sauce and Hawaiian poke with Sriracha aioli and wonton chips. New menu items include kalua pork tacos with shredded cabbage and pickled vegetables, roasted chicken and pork pate banh mi sliders with pickled vegetables, and salmon oshizushi.

The Skipper Sipper is the most recreshing, flavorful non-alcoholic drink I have ever tasted. Trader Sam's atmosphere inside and outside was very tiki-South Seas & relaxing. The outside view was spectacular.
