Has anyone done the AI experience? I am actually really looking forward to it... anyone know how it works?

We've done it a few times now (done, as in been in the audience, not actually sang. That woudl drive the crowds right out of the park! Ha!)
For the audience: you wait in a line queue with lots of TVs showing various former AI contesntants and winners talking about the experience. One time when we were there, they had a cameraman filming the audience; the other time they did not.
When the doors open, you go in to auditorium-like seating. Once you sit down, you'll note that each seat has some buttons on the seat arm rest. The host will come on, tell you how everything works, introduce the "judges", and then introduce the 3 contestants.
Then each contestant will come on one by one, and sing their song.
Afterwards, they face the judges, who give their critique. It can be quite funny.
When everyone is done, all three are brought back on stage, and highlights of each performance are shown.
Then, the audience is asked to vote for one of the contestants, and the winner is announced.
They do the show several times throughout the day (3, I think), and each of the winners from the 3 shows comes back for the final show that day.
I've never been to the final show, but I'm guessing it's the same schtick - 3 contestants introduced, perform, are critiqued, and the audience votes.
The winner of the finale for that day gets a "dream ticket", which I believe is a free pass or ticket for a guaranteed audition at one of the next regional AI auditions for the TV show.
We've never actually performed, so if youa re asking about that, I really have no idea. We've walked by the area when they do the screening, but that's about it.
Overall, I think it's alot of fun! The fun factor really can be raised by the singers too. The last time we went, there was an older gentlemen who did a Beach Boys song or something similar, and he totally worked the audience. It was a blast!
The judges comments can be pretty funny as well, just like the TV show.
I'd recommend it! Let us know what you think when you go!
I want to actually sing, do you know how they select the contestants??

I don't but here's a pretty good write-up from themeparkmom.com that might help!:

And another one over here at about.com:

Hope that helps!
And HOW EXCITING you are going to do it!! YAY!!
haha! I am excited! I tried out for AI about 3 years ago and only made it past the first round of producers (you have to go through about 5 round before you even get to the judges....) so this should be fun! I hope I get to be a constestant!!

That's awesome, Emma! Good luck...I can't wait to hear about it. I don't remember anyone ever talking about it here before!
