Any Feedback on Teppan Edo?

We haven't quite reached 180 days so we can't make our ADRs just yet, but of course that won't stop me from planning. cool Has anyone eaten at Teppan Edo? How's the food? Is it fun and a good show? Let me know what you think! Thanks!

I haven't eaten there, but I think Jess and Mase have.

I've been thinking about my ADRs too. 180 days will be here before we know it.

Teppan Edo is good. If you have a good Hibachi in your town it's probably pretty similar, but it's very reliably good.

We have never ate there either, but I have heard good things about it. We have an ADR there for our trip in May so I can let you know what I think after that. We don't have a hibachi or anything like it near us so I thought it would be fun for us and the kids.

Teppan is one of my favorites! Love it! Its just good food and fun.

And I think the videos are public....

The videos were from 2 years ago, and the photo's are from last year. If the videos arent public, just let me know and ill put them on YouTube.

This place is good entertainment, and the food is SOOOOOOOOO good. I highly recommend this place. We probably wont go there this year... which is a shame, because were cutting down on our ADR's, but next year.... OH YEAH! Just hate the walk if Teppan is the only thing your doing there... lol

Oh.... here is from my trip report:

Quote:
I love Teppan. I love Teppan. I love Teppan. Seriously... lol! This place has it all. Great food cooked right in front of you. Entertainment. Its just a great experience. You don't have to wait long. Your almost in and out. I just highly recommend this place because its the whole deal. My only one minor complaint is the location of it. Its literally almost the farthest point from the entrance to Epcot... all the way back there. Luckily we were coming from HS, so we just hopped on the boat, and then we were a bit closer. But thats my only complaint. Its minor. But I do wanna list it because if you do book this place, either already be planning to chill back in the countries or in Epcot in general. We got there to head right over there and didn't have much time later that night because the park was closing. So I recommend an earlier reservation than 7:10 because you will get our of there roughly in an hour and a half. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Awesome foooooooooood!

If you would like to see other pictures of Teppan, and how I ranked it compared to everywhere else we went to, check out the link below. Should take you right to my ranking of all of the places we went to, and some other things I added...

Awesome! Thanks, Mase. Since I'll be traveling with my niece and nephew (8 & 5) this time, I'm looking for fun restaurants that they might really like....especically since I'm being a tad selfish and making everybody eat at the Kona Cafe one night. wink

Yes, I really agree with Mase about Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge.

I think that Teppan Edo has good food. However, I also feel that if you've seen one Teppan show, you've seen them all. Though, if it would be a new experience for your niece and nephew then I think it's a great idea! My kids loved Teppan when they were younger, but we go to the place near our home, so it's not a unique Disney thing for us.

I'll put my vote in for Whispering Canyon too!

I'm hearing Whispering Canyon a lot in this thread. I've never eaten there. What makes it so much fun? I'd love to hear more!

Wouldn't want to spoil all the secrets, but basically it's very "Rambunctious" in there. Plus the food is great. Here's a review:

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2011/07/31/review-whispering-canyon-cafe-at-wilderness-lodge/

Your server will be very interactive and fun, but definitely not in the same way as at Teppan Edo. Kind of depends on which kind of vibe you're going for.

Exactly.... its just over the top. As soon as you walk into the Lodge... you can hear it. Literally... its crazy fun! Its on my food trip report as well.

But for the Seen it Once Seen them All for Teppan... I disagree. So far both times we have gone it has been different. Maybe a third it could be the same... but so far its been different for us.

It's always been fairly similar for us, but there are definitely some chefs (is that the right term) who are better and/or have more charisma.

We don't have any Teppan type restaurant near us. So we are definitely looking forward to the experience of it for our kids and us. I have been to a hibachi grill before but that was pre-kids those type of places are a good hour or so from us. We also have Whispering Canyon ADR but its for breakfast. Chocolate Milkshake and BBQ Eggs Benedict here we come.

Whole bottomless milkshake thing is pushing Whispering Canyon into the lead for me. Wink That is of course if I can get the rest of the family to agree.

I'm thinking of suggesting Teppen Edo to my friends for our November trip. Does anyone know if they use separate utensils for the foods to avoid cross-contamination? I have a seafood allergy.

I've eaten at one hibatchi restaurant, and they kept the seafood separate on the grill from the chicken they cooked for me plus used separate utensils. I went to another and asked if they did this and was told no. My food was being made in the kitchen while everyone got to watch there food being made.

They don't, but I bet ya they would for that reason because they ask if anyone has any allergies before hand if I remember right. So basically when you tell the chef your order, let them know about the allergy and I bet they will accommodate it.

I'd love to try both restaurants, Teppen Edo is looking like a possibility for our Sept 2012 trip, I wonder how I can convince them to try Whispering Canyon too!
