Any suggestions on these restaurants?

This is our first time as a family to go to WDW and so far these are the restaurants we have narrowed it down to during our stay after Thanksgiving: Cape May Cafe, Boma, Teppan Edo, Whispering Canyon, Les Chefs de France and San Angel. What is everyone's opinion? mickey

I love Cape May, Boma, and Whispering Canyon. Are you planning dinner's there? I love them for breakfast too. Cape May is my favorite Character Breakfast.

If you enjoy that Teppan style or have never been to a Japanese restaurant then Teppan Edo is good. I find the menu at Tokyo Dining a little more exciting, but my family eats a lot of Japanese.

I haven't been to Les Chefs de France, but I just read Magic Mirror's Trip Report and now I really want to give it a try.

Which San Angel? Hacienda San Angel or the San Angel Inn? I was not blown away with San Angel Inn, when I was there it was crowded, noisy and I had bad service. I found it almost chaotic. Hacienda San Angel is much more casual, and I enjoyed it more.

Have not done Cape May or Boma, but have heard good things about both.

We love Teppen Edo and Whispering Canyon is great too!

We have not been to Les Chefs de France in many years but loved it the first time we were there.

Now as for San Angel in, we will not be back. We did not care for the food and the atmosphere was intersesting but a little too cramped for our style.

Looks like you have a fun time planned!

Visited Les Chefs de France alst October. It was good. I enjoyed teh cheese platter -- but I am a cheese lover! muchlove

Two years ago we ate in Japan and I'm pretty positive it was Teppen Edo. We watched Illuminations from our table. It was romantic! awesome

We love Boma. We've got reservations for Teppan Edo next week - our first time there. Les Chefs de France is all right - not as amazing as I'd expected, but not bad, either.

Yes it is the San Angel Inn sad And you are not the first person we heard that from.. We were trying to have a different cuisine each night for dinner so I think that was our last option that everyone seemed to like just by looking at the menu online. We already have these dinners booked so maybe we still have time to switch San Angel Inn with something else.

If you were seated around a grill where the Chef cooks in front of you, It was Teppan Edo. If you were at a regular table near the front windows it was Tokyo Dining. They both share an entrance. I think Tokyo Dining has an amazing view of illuminations! I could be wrong but it seemed to me most of the Teppan tables were in small rooms in back of the building.

No need to be sorry at all! I myself don't quite understand why they have different names/reservation since they share the space. It's sort of confusing. I have to assume it has something to do with having a better idea when making a purchase order.

I couldn't agree more about the romance! The lighting is dim, the view is fabulous in the day time and during illuminations, not too loud. Very nice muchlove

So since the San Angel Inn is a bust, what other restaurants do all of you recommend? We are doing the Disney Dining Plan so it needs to a place where they accept that. Y'all are so hopeful, thanks everyone!! awesome

Via Napoli would get my vote as a must do.

Cape May Cafe has a wonderful "Clambake" buffet for dinner. The snow crab legs melt in your mouth! YUMMY!!! Whispering Canyon has a really good steak.

Yes, both Via Napoli and Tutto Italia in Italy are good.

Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco is good. Their standard menu is a little dumbed down in the spice department and good for a typical American palette. However if you ask them to make it a little spicier and more authentic they are more than happy to oblige. Plus they have a band and belly dancer during dinner service.

Another ethnic choice is Kouzinna at the Boardwalk (an easy stroll out the world showcase exit) is Iron Chef Cat Cora's restaurant. The menu is Greek but I haven't eaten there yet.

I'm assuming you would prefer to replace San Angel Inn with something in or close to Epcot. If that isn't the case my vote goes to Ohana at the Polynesian because it's just plain yummy and fun.

We have always liked the Coral Reef as the chocolate wave is our very favorite dessert and the atmosphere there is fun also.

We have enjoyed all of them, but Whispering Canyon. Chefs de France and Teppen Edo are a couple of our fav's. The only thing I warn people about is how loud it is in Teppen Edo is inside. The noise level is so loud you can hardly hear the person next to you forget anyone further down the table. Good but loud.

I've read some pretty horrible reviews about San Angel.. But we have an ADR there... And I was feeling extremely unsure that I wanted to try it until I read Disney Food Blog's review of it.... It seems as though they too previously have had bad dining experiences there, but gave it another shot and really enjoyed themselves... I'm going to stick with it I think...

I haven't been to any of the other restaurants listed... But I too have ADR's at all of the above, except Tepan

I completely feel that AJ is *THE* Goddess of all Disney food knowledge, and honestly you will rarely find me disagreeing with her. So I'm just going to offer this. The DFB review is dated Dec 2010, San Angel Inn had a menu change in July 2011. Here's a story about it from Disney Parks Blog.
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/07/new-look-new-authentic-tastes-at-san-angel-inn-at-epcot/

I was curious as to what my full opinion was so I went back looking for my journal of the meal. I went around October 7th, 2011. I wrote the snippets below. I also made a note that someone else I was talking to said that timing is everything there and if you go when it's less crowded it is much nicer. So.. still a mixed review and I'm rambling because I'm bored at the moment. laugh Here are notes I took and some pictures because like i said BORED:

"All cocktails have Tequila, only serves sweet tea"

"For an appetizer, I ordered the Tacos de Chorizo con Papa, which was the highlight of my meal. Part of the new menu these puffy fried corn cakes were topped with chorizo, fresh salsa verde, queso fresco, and sour cream. Delicious, and I thought enough to be a meal on their own."
San Angel Inn Appetizer

"tough steak"

My companion thought that his meal was "good but nothing earth shattering"
IMG_1546

My final thoughts were "I had hoped three things from this restaurant. I hoped the meal would be quiet, romantic, and air conditioned. Ultimately, it was air conditioned. The food was good enough, but it was so dark and really crowded, the service was spotty and I was pretty happy to leave. "

We didnt like it either and we had probably the best seats possible. Right beside the river ride by the volcano. We had the dining plan, and im not saying our waiter did this... but he sure was much slower to our table. Since we had the dining plan, and 6 people we had an automatic 20% tip charged to the bill. So everytime we sat down for our dinner... the waiter or waitress was guaranteed a tip. And a decent one as well. Well... our waiter was busy with a 2 person table. Would stand and talk to them, and we would be waiting for our food our refills on drinks. I made the mistake of getting something spicy in the thought that our waiter would refill my cup when I needed. I sat at one point for close to 15 minutes before he decided to show up.... we also thought the food was mediocre. Would had rather had gone to Taco Bell to be honest. So we didnt care for it as well... but there are others here who love it.

Boma, Teppan Edo, Whispering Canyon

Those are my picks. Teppan and Canyon are to me must do's. Both SO MUCH FUN! Boma is great if your up for trying unique foods. If you dont like unique foods... take Boma out.

Hmm. I've never been to either of them, but does Teppan Edo only have the iron grill tables while Tokyo Dining has the regular ones? If so, the reservations and name may be like that to guarantee that everyone who wants to eat teppanyaki style gets one and it's not up to chance when you get there.

Yep, Teppan Edo is always Teppanyaki, and Tokyo Dining is like a regular restaurant will a different menu. I think you're right that the different reservations help to "sort" the guests.

Boma and teppan Edo are among my favorites eateries in WDW. I also like San Angel Inn

Not a seafood fan so I cant comment on it except to say the character breakfast is OK, but not among the best

WCC and Chefs de France are OK. Nothing special in terms of food

We didn't eat at Shutters when we stayed at CBR but we regretted it! It always looked and smelled so good when we walked by!

We ate at Shutters the last time we stayed at CBR last time and we were not impressed. As I said before though Coral Reef is one of our favorites. Smile
