These are amazing. I always knew Disney made beautiful cakes, but I guess I never realized the level of talent at the bakeries there.

The problem is: The pretty cakes never taste good! You want an ugly cake from an eating perspective in my experience!

I agree with cdub: Cake is for EATING!!!!! First and foremost it has to taste good! From watching Ace of Cakes on TV, it looks like a lot of the sculpting is done with modeling chocolate, rice krispy treats, etc. I admire the artistry of the cakes, but I would rather have a quality pound cake with butter cream icing!

My wedding cake was simple....lavendar background frosting, white piping (reminded me of wedgewood) with hidden mickey's in the swirls (Not a Disney wedding, but could not resist a little extra magic)....topped with our initial in crystals......beautiful and soooooooo yummy!

You're spot on here! Every time I watch Ace of Cakes I wonder why they don't just make it out of plastic. laugh
