ORLANDO, Fla. -- It was an identity theft scam that, according to authorities, wrapped up 45 victims who were mostly tourists and cost a total of $30,000.
Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said the suspect is behind bars after six months of investigations.
Detectives said Jason Maclaren targeted tourists who were mostly staying at Disney resort hotels.
Detectives said Maclaren made his money by getting tourists' credit card numbers over the phone and using them to buy theme park tickets, which he would then sell to other people with a deep discount.
"I couldn't believe I had fallen for that," victim Linda Clark said.
Clark said she was shocked to see that her account had charges of more than $1,500 for theme park tickets that she said she did not buy.
"He would pose as a Disney employee. He would give them vital information about some of the events available to them. He would offer them a discount dining plan and they would jump on it becuase the price was usually too good to believe," Det. Bryan Vinella of the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
He's facing charges of identity theft, grand theft and credit card fraud.
Maclaren was arrested on charges of virtually the same crime two years ago and is a former Disney employee.
Maclaren told detectives he had nothing against Disney or Universal and that he would sometimes use the tickets to enjoy a day at the parks.
